Is your blog being attacked by comment spammers? If you are running a Wordpress blog, that is quite normal. You will get more spams if your blog is popular. I made a header a few days ago, thinking it was quite nice but didn’t have any intension on using it. Then I found a nice picture of clear blue sky and thought of making it to my header. This is what I made and using now..
Please give me some opinion on this. I know it is not very special but it did suit my blog’s theme. :p Time for me to go back to study now. And yet, my wordpress is working fine now.. Strange..
Wordpress version 2.1 is finally released this morning. The Wordpress team claims that they had done over 550 bug fixes on this version! Now that’s a lot of bug huh?
These are the changes in this new version:
- Autosave makes sure you never lose a post again.
- Our new tabbed editor allows you to switch between WYSIWYG and code editing instantly while writing a post.
- The lossless XML import and export makes it easy for you to move your content between WordPress blogs.
- Our completely redone visual editor also now includes spell checking.
- New search engine privacy option allows you take you to indicate your blog shouldn’t ping or be indexed by search engines like Google.
- You can set any “page” to be the front page of your site, and put the latest posts somewhere else, making it much easier to use WordPress as a content management system.
- Much more efficient database code, faster than previous versions.
- Links in your blogroll now support sub-categories and you can add categories on the fly.
- Redesigned login screen from the Shuttle project.
- More AJAX to make custom fields, moderation, deletions, and more all faster. My favorite is the comments page, which new lets you approve or unapprove things instantly.
- Pages can now be drafts, or private.
- Our admin has been refreshed to load faster and be more visually consistent.
- The dashboard now instantly and brings RSS feeds asynchronously in the background.
- Comment feeds now include all the comments, not just the last 10.
- Better internationalization and support for right-to-left languages.
- The upload manager lets you easily manage all your uploads pictures, video, and audio.
- A new version of the Akismet plugin is bundled.
I had upgraded my Wordpress to version 2.1. Well the new features worked remarkably well but I had a problem with the javascript. I was using Mozilla Firefox to write this post and this is how it looked like when I try to edit the image position using the image button.
Looks nice right? The editing box will pop up in the middle of the page without opening a new window. The problem is, I can’t even close it. Nothing happened even I kept on clicking on the X button. I have to scroll using my mouse roll button within the pop up to get to the update button. Everything works fine using Internet Explorer but not on Firefox. Anyone can tell me why? I don’t know is this problem only happen to me or everyone. Maybe it is just only me… hmm…

I was browsing through some Wordpress themes with wonderful headers. That gave me an idea, why don’t I just make a custom header myself? And so, I started Google-ing on this topic and stomp into Paul’s blog on how to make a blog header graphic. The tutorial was great and I was managed to make my custom header although I’m actually using Macromedia Fireworks to make it. This is what I made…
Not bad for a rookie in graphic designing huh? Click on the photo above for a bigger view. Actually I was just cropping some the image from some wallpaper, then make the whole header step by step according to Paul’s tutorial. I don’t know why I just like the photos of the clouds in the sky. Just give me a very calm feeling.
Currently I’m still thinking of whether to apply it on my blog or not. Where should I put those header banner if I’m going to use this header then? If you think the header is nice, why don’t give me some opinion then?
