HTC launched the EVO 3D in Malaysia 2 weeks ago. The EVO 3D is the first QHD 3D display phone from HTC running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread which features a 4.3-inch display and a powerful 1.2 GHz QualcommSnapdragon dual-core processor. HTC EVO 3D also features dual 5 megapixel cameras, which can be used to capture both high-quality conventional and stunning 3D images and videos, opening up new frontiers for user-generated content, social networking and streaming video.

Opps, this news seems to be 2 weeks ago but what the heck. The HTC Incredible S is packed with 4″ WVGA Super LCD (800×480 pixels), 8 megapixel rear camera with dual flash, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera with built-in video calling functionality, 1Ghz CPU, Bluetooth 2.1, 1.1GB internal storage and 768 MB of RAM. The phone will be available exclusively from Digi and available at HTC authorized resellers from end of April onwards at the price of RM1999. At this low price, this is really a good buy in my opinion.

HTC will be launching the HTC Incredible S in Malaysia this 18th March. The Incredible S is one of the 3 phones from HTC which were announced in Mobile World Congress last month. This phone will be packed with 4″ WVGA Super LCD (800×480 pixels), 8 megapixel rear camera with dual flash, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera with built-in video calling functionality, 1Ghz CPU, Bluetooth 2.1, 1.1GB internal storage and 768 MB of RAM.

It is expected that the phone will still be running on Android Froyo 2.2 and upgrade will be available later. How much do you think it will cost? RM2199?

Another 2 new phones launched by HTC at MWC is the HTC Salsa & ChaCha. Yeap, Salsa & ChaCha. How did they come up with such names I wonder? These 2 phones comes with distinctive Facebook button at the front and both are running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread with customised HTC Sense. These are not the official Facebook phones but just smart phones which have more Facebook integrations.

The HTC Salsa comes with 3.4-inch touch screen with 480 x 320 resolution while HTC ChaCha comes with 2.6-inch touch screen with 480 x 320 resolution and a full QWERTY keyboard at the bottom. Both phones are actually identical in terms of hardware where both running on 600MHz processor with 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM expandable via microSD. Both has a VGA camera in front and a 5.0MP auto focus camera with flash at the back.

What makes it so different from other phones? HTC created the Facebook widget where you can group all your friends together, and see when anyone is online. Basically you can chat with any friends whenever you want. The dedicated Facebook button at the bottom allows you to do anything in Facebook with just one touch. Check out the videos below.

HTC denied that they will join the tablet bandwagon anytime soon when asked last year. Yet, HTC now launched their new tablet, the HTC Flyer at MWC. This 7 inch tablet is packed with a powerful 1.5GHz processor (single core) and a massive 1GB of RAM. The weird part is that it comes with a “Magic Pen” which allows you to write notes, drawing and so on which is quite cool.

The HTC Flyer 7 inch capacitive screen is 1024×600 in resolution and comes with 32GB internal storage, 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera for video call purposes, GPS, which is running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Sad to see that it’s not operating on Android 3.0 Honeycomb which is for tablet use. Probably this is due to HTC Sense is not compatible with Android 3.0 yet?

HTC announces the HTC Desire S, Wildfire S and Incredible S in Mobile World Congress which is held in Barcelona this year. All 3 new models were “upgraded” from the old line ups although it’s kinda strange that they named it with “S” at the end which sounds similar to its Korean rival Samsung.

HTC Desire S

The Desire S is built using the same machining techniques as the unibody HTC Legend, and is sculpted out of a block of aluminum. Other than that, there are not much changes. It’s got a 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU (MSM8255), 5 megapixel camera, 1.1 GB of internal storage, 768MB of RAM, GPS, and Bluetooth 2.1 radio tucked behind a 3.7″ WVGA (480×800) Display. There are nothing mentioning on whether the display is using AMOLED or SLCD technology, but I’ll assume that it should be the same as the later version of Desire which is using SLCD. The optical trackball is now removed and the hardware keys were changed  to touch sensitive ones. It’s now equipped with front camera which allows you to have video call function, assuming that it’s for 3G calls. I was expecting a dual core processor for this updated version but it just updated to the same as Desire HD’s processor though.

HTC Wildfire S

The HTC Wildfire is the smallest & cheapest phone in the HTC Android phone line. With improved 320×480 pixels display, slightly faster 600MHz, and upgraded 512MB of RAM, this phone should be on the top of the line on cheap Android phones line. Mind you that this phone is running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread as well! Hopefully the price stays as competitive as the previous Wildfire then.

HTC Incredible S

The HTC Incredible S is something rather confusing for me. HTC Incredible is the almost cloned version of the HTC Desire which is only available in the US. Yet, this updated version will be available globally and it got a 4″ WVGA Super LCD (800×480 pixels), 8 megapixel rear camera with dual flash, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera with built-in video calling functionality, 1Ghz CPU, Bluetooth 2.1, and 768 MB of RAM. It only comes with 1.1GB internal storage but what the heck, microSD slot is available to save the day.  Mind you that this phone will still be running on Android 2.2 and further update to 2.3/4 in “future”. Basically, this phone just seems like a shrinked down version of the HTC Desire HD don’t you think?

Finally, the HTC Desire HD and Desire Z is now launched in Malaysia. As mentioned before, the HTC Desire HD comes with a huge 4.3inch screen, running on 1GHz processor, 1.5GB of ROM and 768MB of RAM. The camera is  8 megapixel and capable of recording 720p HD videos. This phone will be available in all HTC resellers and Digi Stores in early December at the price of RM2,299.

The Desire Z on the other hand is basically looks like a HTC Desire packed with a keyboard which is named as the G2 in some of the European countries. Under the hood this phone is powered by a 800MHz processor, 1.5GB or ROM and 512MB of RAM. Other than that most of the specs are almost the same as the HTC Desire. The new HTC Desire Z carries a suggested retail price of RM 2,299.00 and will be available soon exclusively through any of the 28 Maxis Centres nationwide and at selected Maxis Exclusive Partners.

At the price of RM2299 for both of these phones, which one will you choose? Take note that the Desire Z is only exclusively available under Maxis so you might not be able to find it at normal HTC resellers stores. No official pricing plans available from both operators yet, so just wait for the plans and phone rebates in the coming weeks. I’m so gonna swap my Desire to this monster HD soon..

While I was waiting for the HTC Desire HD to be launched in Malaysia, HTC launched 2 new smartphones, HTC 7 Mozart and HTC HD7, in conjunction of the launching of Windows Phone 7. The HTC HD7 is actually quite similar to HTC HD2 with both of them carries a large 4.3inch capacitive touch screen. The phone is running on 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8250 processor, 512MB ROM, 576MB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The camera can record 720p HD video and it is a 5megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. The retail price is at RM2399 and it is only exclusively available from Maxis at the moment.

The HTC 7 Mozart on the other hand had not much difference compared with the HD7. The main difference is this phone comes with a smaller size screen – 3.7inch in size, reduced internal storage size to 8GB, yet a whopping 8 Megapixel camera. The retail price is at RM2099 available at authorized resellers.

Although there are only 2 phones available in Malaysia, HTC actually launched 5 different phones in different regions during the launch of Windows Phone 7. The remaining 3 phones are HTC 7 Surround, HTC 7 Pro and HTC 7 Trophy. Yet, when I browse through the SEA HTC website, it seems that HTC 7 Trophy is listed in the product list. No info on the pricing though.

With the launch of Windows Phone 7, people might have some difficulties choosing which type of phone and OS to go for. Even though there are a lot of WP7 smartphones launched on the same day, the functionality are almost the same! So which phone is actually the best? I have no idea. The more type of phones produced by phone manufacturers, the more competitive the market will be, and the price wars continues. In the end, it only benefit one group of people the most, which is us, the consumers. What say you?
