New Google Nexus Devices – In Three Sizes~

Google just announced their latest flagship of Nexus devices which are the Nexus 4 , the revised Nexus 7 and the new tablet Nexus 10.

Nexus 4

The Nexus 4 is manufactured by LG, which looks like a revamped version of LG Optimus G. It features 4.7″ IPS display (320 ppi) that pushes 1280×768 resolution and toughen with Gorilla Glass 2. Underneath the hood, the Nexus 4 is powered with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro coupled with 2GB of RAM. The Nexus 4 is running on the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

In terms of storage, the Nexus 4 comes in 8GB and 16GB options, but sadly it doesn’t have a microSD card slot for additional memory expansion. The 8MP camera at the back shoots 1080p HD videios and the front facing 1.3MP camera does 720p.  The Nexus 4 only supports HSPA+ and no LTE support though. On-board there’s a 2,100mAh battery and it weighs 139 grams with a thickness of 9.1mm. Something to take note is that the back of the phone is also made of glass which I’m not sure whether it will break easily like iPhones or not.

Another new interesting feature is that the Nexus 4 supports wireless charging using the wireless charging dock which they call the Wireless Charging Orb that’s slanted on one side.

Nexus 7

Previously launched as a WiFi only device with 8GB and 16GB storage options, the Nexus 7 is now available in a larger 32GB model while the 8GB model will not be available anymore soon. The new 32GB model is priced at US$249 which is the old price of the 16GB version. Meanwhile, the 16GB option is now sold at a lower price point of US$199.

Google has also announced a 3G version that supports HSPA+ connectivity at US$299 with 32GB storage. Just like its latest Nexus siblings, the Nexus 7 runs on the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Nexus 10

The 10-inch Nexus 10 which is manufactured by Samsung features an impressive 2560×1600 resolution display pushing out approximately 300ppi. In comparison, the Retina Display on the iPad 4 pushes about 264ppi with a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels on a 9.7-inch screen. The Nexus 10 tablet comes in two variants – 16GB and 32GB. Both models will be WiFi only. The device is powered by 1.7GHz dual-core Exynos 5250 processor with 2GB of RAM and a quad-core Mali T604 GPU which makes this the most powerful tablet as of today. Running on Android Jelly Bean 4.2, it supports multiple users on one device.

There’s a 5MP rear camera (1080p videos) and a 1.9MP front camera (720p videos). The Nexus 10 is said to be good up for 9 hours of HD video playback supplied by its 9,000mAh battery. Other specs include microUSB and Micro HDMI ports as well as two NFC chips (one on the front and one on the back).

The Nexus 10 starts from USD399 for the 16GB version and $499 for the 32GB version. It will be available on November 13th in the Google Play Store in the US, UK, Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Canada. Hopefully all the Nexus line devices will be available in Malaysia by end of the year though.
