WordPress No Permission Problem~

wordpressThe latest version of WordPress 2.2.3 was released 4 days ago. Being a WordPress 2.2.2 user, I’ve decided to upgrade to the latest version. It is better to upgrade to the latest version since there were some bugs in the previous version that were fixed in this version. Or else, what is the purpose of coming out a new version?

Anything new with the latest version? As far as I can see, there’s nothing much difference. The only disappointment for me is that the “no permission” problem is still not fixed. The problem with this bug is that you have no permission to create categories, delete comments, adding blogroll and so on. The error message will be something like this: “You have no permission to do that“. Posting a new post will cause some trouble as well because once after you click the publish button, a prompt message: ” Do you want to edit this post?” will be shown. Nothing will happen after you click “yes” or “no” button, except the whole post will be gone after that. Try writing a long post with few hundred words in it and the whole post gone after you click the publish button. Isn’t that frustrating?

As far as I know, not many WordPress users are experiencing this. Hence, there were no proper solutions given by the WordPress support team. However, I’ve found a ticket in WordPress.org that will solve this issue. Basically it is some problem related to AJAX JS code. What you need to do is replace some codings in wp-includes/pluggable.php. Read here for the detailed explanations.

For those who are lost of what the ticket is talking about, just download the pluggable.php file that I’ve modified and replace the same file under wp-includes folder. Mind you that I don’t guarantee this solution will work, so remember to do a backup of the file before you replace it.

My Convocation 2007~

dsc_0319.JPG

Remember the last convocation photos that I took? Last weekend was finally MY convocation! Oh my god, it’s already 1 year since that time. My family and I drove down to Skudai purposely to attend my convocation. Started our journey on Sunday morning, we stopped by at Melaka to have some Chicken Rice Balls for lunch and some tasty cendol for dessert… Yummy! The next day, all of us had to wake up at 6am because I had to register by 7.30am. Damn this is tiring..

How Fast Can You Type?~

I came across a flash game named Fingerjig while browsing through some forum. It is basically a typing game created by a web designer named Jonathan Miles, where you can test out how fast you can type. During the game, you will be shown 1 word at a time where you need to type correctly to proceed to the next word. Of course, in order to get high scores, you need to type fast, and make as little mistakes as possible in the time provided.

Night Shift~

It was my first day of working on night shift. Wanna see how my workplace looks like?

dsc01128.JPG

So romantic right? This photo was taken at 3am where the guys off the lights and started dozing off since maintenance mode started. I got 2 lcd monitors to monitor on my station, maybe another laptop for troubleshooting purposes soon.

My sis just told me don’t blog too much about work here, just to be careful. So just be cautious here..

Working Life~

After months of waiting and interviewing, I finally found a job at one of the Telco company in Malaysia. What position? I’m now working as a technical support engineer. I have to work on shift just to support the system to be working 24/7.

Shift work might be quite tiring, due to long hours of work and lack of sleep. The working shift is 12 hours long, but off days are much more compared to normal working hours. The allowance and salary can be considered quite high if compared to other fresh graduates. So why not just put some effort and get through it right?

Lots of things that I need to do actually. Checking the trouble tickets, handling complains, troubleshooting the problems, monitoring the system network and so on. After just 1 week of work, I’ve been called back on site to support, even on Sunday, due to some server down problems which is caused by power tripped at datacenter. And these few days the problems just keep on coming. Wrong timing of joining this company I suppose  Normally there won’t be so many problems pop up. But to be on the bright side, I learnt more about the work much faster and easier.

My friend and I just found a place to stay. Hopefully I can settle down in 3 weeks time and have streamyx installed asap. By then, I can work on my blog whenever I’m having off days! Heheh.. Nothing much to think of now, just focus on my career path and hold on :)

Holiday in Penang Island~

img_1752.jpg

Last Saturday, my family and I went to Penang for a holiday to find my 2nd sister who is staying there. That morning, my parents and I went to Bidor to wait for my 3rd sister and her boyfriend to go to Penang together. My eldest sister didn’t follow us for the holiday though, or else it would be a complete family gathering. There’s nothing much can be said of Penang, except GREAT FOOD and BEACH ;) . Our mission was to eat every great food that we can find, and have fun enjoying our holiday. What did we eat? A lot of food actually: Laksa, Prawn mee, Cendol, “fried oyster”? , Char Kuey Teow, “Sotong with vegetables” and a lot more.

I didn’t take any photos of the food though, because the weather was freaking hot in Penang. It was so hot until we went to the new shopping centre, Queensbay Mall to cool us down after buying some things at Penang Road. The weather was not really good though, because it rained like cats and dogs when we went to Queensbay Mall. In the evening, everyone of us went to Gurney Drive to eat and eat and eat again. I was the unlucky one, because I have to queue for half an hour just to get a plate of so called FAMOUS “fried oyster” .

The next day, we decided to go to some tourist spots – The Beach at Batu Feringgi~! We didn’t plan to swim at the sea so we just went there to walk around, and took some photos at the Park Royal Hotel.

The beach. Eventhough it was around 12pm, there were still a lot of people there riding horses, sitting the banana boat and all sorts of beach activities. One word to describe these people though – INSANE

That’s my 2nd sister who is working at Penang. I’m the tallest one in the family heheh  Those sisters never took off their sunglasses when we went to the beach..

After walking around at the beach, we went to have Thai food recommended by my 2nd sister. That was really delicious! We started our journey back from Penang at 4pm and guess what? We manage to reach Bidor 4 hours plus after that. Why? I don’t really understand. It was super jam at the north south highway and there were too many people went for holiday in Penang I suppose. We took half an hour just to cross the Penang bridge. It was 8.30pm when we reached Bidor and we reached Teluk Intan at 10pm after dinner there. Pity my 3rd sister and her boyfriend… They only manage to reach back to their house in PJ at 1.30am. The journey was suppose to be around 1 hour plus from Bidor to KL but it took them 4 hours to reach home. Talk about public holidays huh?

What’s the moral story of this? Don’t go anywhere for holiday on public holidays, or what you’ll get is only TRAFFIC JAM!!! EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY!!!!!!!!!!
