Ever heard of Swype? It’s a new type of virtual keyboard for mobile phones which allows you to key in text by just sliding through the keypads without typing the words manually. It provides a faster and easier way of text input with very accurate word predictions. However, it is currently available for the new Samsung Omnia II.
Luckily, the folks at MoDaCo successfully extracted the software out of the Omnia II and released to the phone modding community. All you need to do is head over to the forum and download the cab file to install into your Windows Mobile phone. Do take note that it only available for WVGA resolutions currently though. Some folks already tried on HTC Touch Pro II and HD 2 and it works flawlessly. I’ve tried on my Touch HD and it works as well! The word prediction works very well and it will auto save the words that you manually key in for future “swiping” use. How cool is that?
Considering that this could lead to some legal issues (Swype is not launched for any other phones yet!), the link might not stay up for long. So hurry up and grab it! It might not improve the speed of typing but it is very interesting to input text by swiping it. 🙂 Do share with me how’s the experience of using Swype ok?
