Try out Skyfire today. Skyfire is a free, downloadable mobile web browser that allows you to experience the internet on your phone exactly like on your PC. Now, you can use the full web from your mobile phone with unprecedented speed and simplicity – without the typical restrictions and limitations that current ‘mobile web’ efforts offer. This means you can open up websites like youtube, myspace, facebook just the same like what you see on your PC. Why? This is because Skyfire supports almost all plugins that these websites requires. Isn’t that fun?

Some may argue that new versions of Opera browser works like Skyfre too. But in my own experience, Opera will go very sluggish once flash components are loaded, which is a no no for me.

How to get Skyfire?

Currently Skyfire is still under open BETA versions and only available for people who lives in US only. However, there are tricks for you to get a hold on it for those outside of US.

First, you need to sign up for open BETA and register. You will need to key in your email and your US mobile phone number. Don’t worry though, I’ve tried keying in all sorts of number just to fill the column and it actually works! Then select the type of phone that you have.

Once you successfully registered, you will receive an email with the details just like below.

Select Download to PC and you will be redirected to another page.

Key in your password same as the one you registered and submit. You will be taken to a page with the download link.

Download the file to your PC and transfer it to your mobile phone. You can install the application just by clicking on the file in your phone. There you have it, Skyfire on your phone!

This method only works for PDA phone. For symbian phones, I guess you will have to try it yourselves since I’m not sure whether u can download it into your phone and install it. But I guess the steps are just the same though~ :lol:

The sad part is, Skyfire does not support VGA screen phones yet. So if you are using phones like HTC Touch Diamond, forget about getting it now because once you launch the application, you’ll only see the browser appears in half of your screen.  :cry:

Here are some cool specs for this gadget.

• Camera:-5 megapixels camera with auto focus

The difference between Touch HD with Touch Diamond or Touch Pro is just the specs above including a 3.5 mm audio jack. Other than that, they are basically the same such as HSDPA, GPS, Bluetooth and so on.

Not to forget that Touch HD comes with a 1350mAh which should last longer than the predecessors but with the high resolution and bigger screen, I seriously doubt that it would actually last longer. In my opinion, the battery life would just the same as Touch Diamond, which really sucks!!

Although the battery life would seem like a problem for this gadget, but I really like the sleek, clean design and the looks of it. Yet, more and more phone makers (nokia, samsung, LG…) are coming out with this type of phone, all with a big wide touch screen, but not on Windows Mobile though…

Conclusion? With the cool looks of the phone, I’m sure it will make a big hit like the Touch Diamond once it is launched. The phone will only be out in December (if I’m not mistaken) so hopefully my hands will not get itchy to replace my current phone with this  :lol: Maybe Santa will put one in my socks during Christmas time?  :mrgreen:

Oh ya, did I mention before that I already owned a Touch Diamond since few months ago? Hmm.. Obviously not. My family and friends will sure scold me if I buy this phone in Christmas haha~ I guess I must change it secretly by that time, since the Diamond and HD looks quite alike, from far though…  :twisted:

Catherine Mcqueen (the Bond Girl in the Bond Series - Die Another Day) was in Digi last Friday. Being an actress/DJ/Model herself, she was playing the music for our little party in the Courtyard that day. Frankly speaking, I don’t really recall her in that movie as it was quite some time ago. Do you remember her in the movie?

The small drinking session was quite fun, where there were cakes and satay served for all of us. And of course, free flow of beers were provided!  :mrgreen: Haven’t eaten anything at all for the whole day, I was kinda drunk blur that day after having a few mugs of beer with satays. People always says that you don’t drink when your stomach is empty, don’t they? :p

As time passed into the late evening, the big crowd was almost cleared and my manager and I decided to go in front and take a photo with her. She was very friendly though.

Gosh.. Look at the quality of the photo.. should’ve asked my colleague to take the photo with his 5 megapixel camera phone instead  :lol: Party was over, and it’s time to go back to work.  :wink:

Let me present to you, the copycat version of HTC Touch Diamond TouchFlo 3D theme~ This is how it looks like on your PDA phone.

Of course, this theme is not as perfect as the original TouchFlo 3D on the Touch Diamond. There’s only 5 tabs available for the bottom bar and the 3D animations is not exactly the same as the original ones. Still, it looks really cool on your phone. Mind you that the time on the first screen won’t flip as the original ones  :lol: 

How to install this theme?

1. Download and install SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 into your PDA.
2. Download and install the HTC Touch Diamond theme.
3. Soft reset your phone and enjoy!

Make sure you watch the video on how SPB Mobile Shell works in SPB website as there are a lot of functions that you can use with this theme. For example, if you move your stylus or finger on the screen, the screen will actually flips to another screen with different views.

The theme comes in black by default. You need to download the color theme here. Follow the instructions given and you’ll be able to change the color to the ones you like!

Let’s take a look at the hardware specifications first. The PDA phone is powered by 528MHz Qualcomm MSM 7201A processor, with internal memory 256MB ROM, 192MB RAM and most interesting part of all, the 4GB internal flash storage for personal file storage. The phone is HSDPA enabled, with broadband-like speed capability up to 7.5Mbps (but this definitely depends on how fast your mobile network is capable of I doubt there’s any mobile network in Malaysia is capable of providing you that kind of speed and bandwidth!)

What I like about this PDA is the simple design and also the functions of it. To me, it’s like the perfect phone for all. The phone comes with 3.2MP camera with auto-focus, GPS enabled, and most of all, the 3D touch interface - TouchFLO 3D. With a built-in graphic processor, it enables the htc home applications to run on 3D interface.

The display is running on 640×480 resolution which makes photos look nicer and more detailed.

The downside of the phone is that you cannot add more storage space to it as there is no external memory card slot on the phone. As usual for HTC products, there is only 1 mini usb port which is for battery charging and also wired headset connection. So you cannot charge the phone while listening to music with headset. The 528MHz processor with 192MB RAM is very sufficient for a PDA phone, as my O2 Atom Exec only running on 64MB of RAM. Another thing is that the phone does not come with QWERTY keypad. But the internal keypad software is efficient enough for you to type with fingers on the screen. For those who prefer using physical keypads, don’t worry though as there are rumors that another version of this phone with physical keypad will be launched as well.

So is this phone launched in the market? Not yet though~ It is expected to be launched in Europe and Asia by Q3 2008. So now is the time for me to save up some money for this baby!~ The price of this baby is not announced yet, but I expect it to be at least the same price with HTC Touch Cruise which is around RM2600. Hopefully the price will not go beyond that as I will have to think at least 10 times on the budget for this gadget.
